I’m pushing 79 years old. My heart has both plumbing and electrical problems. 8 stents, 2 RF ablations, Watchman Implant and now a Boston Scientific Dual Pacemaker.
Earlier this year during an appointment my cardio Dr Sankar had to advise me not to travel. Additionally, my EKG was not good enough for cardio rehab. Dr Sankar felt a pacemaker would help my slow heart rate issue. He sent me to Dr Giancarlo.
Dr Giancarlo agreed with Dr Sankar. I have met with Dr Giancarlo 3 times face to face and a couple of patient portal messages. He explained the pacemaker process, answered my questions, performed the installation and checked the incision after…before turning me back over to Dr Sankar.
Dr Giancarlo’s assistant and scheduler Jessica is tops. She has helped me for years. The preop, OR crew and postop people/process was/is A+.
My slow heart rate has been fixed for months now.

My family member recently had surgery with this physician. She originally went in for her initial visit to schedule surgery and she said she was not comfortable with him and not happy with his bedside manner - He was rude, short with her and seemed inconsiderate .. She was referred to this physician and he had a quick openings ( we now understand why - after a major issue that no surgical patient should have go through!) After her initial visit, she decided to have surgery with him - she had a time sensitive procedure and did not feel comfortable waiting several weeks to see a new doctor.. Needles to say, she will not be going back to him and does not feel confident or comfortable with him.. Working in healthcare, we are disappointed with his patient care and compassion.

The first doctor I have encountered that was uncaring and dismissive. I was referred to see a cardiologist by my OB after some heart issues postpartum. Unfortunately, he was the only one with an appointment the soonest and I can now see why. I mentioned I have been having palpitations etc. Eventually just said fine we will do an ultrasound and then told me to come back and see him. I ended up just canceling both appointments and I will look for another cardiologist that cares or at least pretends to care about his patients.

I am posting on behalf of my mother. Thursday June 9 2022 she went in to have a old difibulator replaced with a new one. She told them she had a low pain tolerance and needed IV meds to help with pain. She gets sick on codeine so they gave her a patch to help. When she was in surgery they numbed the area with laticane. She never felt, smelled or tasted the IV meds which you normally do. I know because I've had 2 difibulators, heart and liver transplants. She said she could feel him cutting and scraping and she yelled out several times . He asked Can you feel that? She said yes and he said I'm sorry hun. She was giving a drug similar to Xanax but lower and told she would be in a twilight would not care. She heard and felt everything. She was not loopy or incoherent when I picked her from recovery. She was in tears. There's absolutely no reason for this. She Will Not be seeing him again. Also only told to take Tylenol and ice packs at home.
